Where it strikes

Medical treatment

  • Nystatin or fluconazole
  • treat the trigger (steroid inhaler technique, diabetes, antibiotics)
  • echinocandins for invasive disease
  • ibrexafungerp for vaginal thrush (FDA 2021, recalled in 2023 over a manufacturing problem) and once-weekly rezafungin for candidaemia (FDA, EMA 2023)
