What it is
In growing, sporty children the kneecap tendon pulls on its growth plate below the knee, raising a painful bump.
Symptoms & signs
- Pain and a bony lump just below the kneecap
- worse with running, jumping and kneeling
- often both knees
- eases when growth stops
