Cubital fossa
Fossa cubitalis · Loketní jamka
Fascia & connective tissue
Looks like
The triangular hollow on the front of the elbow, between the forearm muscles on either side and a line joining the two humerus bumps.
What it does
Holds the biceps tendon, the brachial artery and the median nerve, with the large surface veins crossing over them; the blood-pressure cuff listens here.
Keeping it well
The usual place to take blood or put in a drip. A needle placed too deep can hit the artery or median nerve; a displaced elbow fracture in a child can kink the artery — check the pulse and fingers.
