Where it strikes
Medical treatment
- High-dose NSAIDs
- colchicine 3 months (halves recurrence)
- steroids only if resistant
- pericardiocentesis for tamponade
- rilonacept for recurrent pericarditis — FDA-approved 2021; fewer recurrences in RHAPSODY
