Superficial layer of temporal fascia
Lamina superficialis fasciae temporalis · Povrchový list spánkové povázky
Fascia & connective tissue
Looks like
The outer layer of a tough sheet over the temple muscle, running from the side of the skull down to the upper edge of the cheekbone.
What it does
Covers and anchors the temporal chewing muscle and provides a firm surface above the cheekbone.
Keeping it well
Surgeons use it as a landmark and graft source; temple pain with jaw ache when chewing in over-50s needs urgent blood tests.
