Conus elasticus
Conus elasticus · Pružný kužel
Fascia & connective tissue
Looks like
A cone-shaped sheet of elastic tissue inside the voice box, running from the ring-shaped cricoid cartilage up to the vocal cords.
What it does
Its free upper edge forms the vocal ligaments inside the vocal cords; its front part closes the gap between the thyroid and cricoid cartilages.
Keeping it well
The soft spot below the Adam's apple lies over it; in a choking emergency doctors can open the airway there.
