The vein collecting the upper two or three rib spaces; the left one crosses the aortic arch to the left brachiocephalic vein.
What it does
Drains the upper back chest wall; on the right it empties into the azygos vein.
Keeping it well
The left one can make a small bump on the aortic arch on X-ray (aortic nipple), which is normal.
