A vein running down the side of the chest wall, below the armpit, over the serratus anterior muscle.
What it does
Drains the side of the chest wall and the outer breast into the axillary vein.
Keeping it well
A tender cord under the skin of the chest or breast may be superficial vein inflammation (Mondor's disease); it settles, but a breast check is sensible.
