Anatom3DLower oesophageal sphincter
Sphincter oesophagi inferior · Dolní jícnový svěrač
Digestive system
Looks like
A ring of muscle where the gullet meets the stomach, just under the diaphragm.
What it does
Lets food down and keeps acid from coming back up.
Keeping it well
Smaller late meals, less alcohol and smoking, raise the bed head; long-standing reflux damages the lining.
