A branch of the tibial nerve crossing the sole of the foot toward its outer side under the short flexor muscles.
What it does
Moves most small sole muscles and brings feeling from the outer sole and fourth and fifth toes.
Keeping it well
Its first branch can be trapped at the heel (Baxter nerve), a cause of stubborn heel pain.
