Lumbar plexus
Plexus lumbalis · Bederní pleteň
Nervous system
Looks like
A network of nerves formed from the first four lumbar nerves inside the psoas muscle on the back abdominal wall.
What it does
Supplies the lower abdominal wall, groin, front and inner thigh; gives the femoral and obturator nerves.
Keeping it well
A bleed or abscess in the psoas can press on it, causing thigh pain and weakness. Used for regional anaesthesia.
