Ciliary ganglion
Ganglion ciliare · Řasnaté ganglion
Nervous system
Looks like
A tiny relay knot of nerve cells in the back of the eye socket, beside the optic nerve.
What it does
Relays the oculomotor nerve's signals that shrink the pupil and focus the eye for near vision.
Keeping it well
Damage gives a widened pupil that reacts poorly to light (Adie pupil), usually harmless. Blocked by injections before eye surgery.
