Flexor accessorius
Musculus quadratus plantae · Čtyřhranný sval chodidla
Muscles
Looks like
A flat, square muscle in the sole (quadratus plantae), from the heel bone to the long toe flexor tendon.
What it does
Straightens the pull of the long toe flexor so the toes curl straight, and helps when the calf is relaxed.
Keeping it well
Rarely a problem on its own; it can be involved in heel pain and nerve entrapment in the sole.
