Left suprarenal vein
Vena suprarenalis sinistra · Levá nadledvinová žíla
Veins
Looks like
A single vein leaving each adrenal gland; the right is very short into the vena cava, the left runs into the left kidney vein.
What it does
Carries the adrenal's hormones, such as cortisol, aldosterone and adrenaline, into the circulation.
Keeping it well
Blood sampled from both veins (adrenal vein sampling) shows which gland makes too much aldosterone in high blood pressure.
