Right calcaneus
Calcaneus dexter · Pravá kost patní
Skeleton
Looks like
The heel bone, the largest bone of the foot, forming the back of the foot and the heel.
What it does
Takes the impact at each step and anchors the Achilles tendon for push-off.
Keeping it well
Breaks with falls from height onto the heels — check the spine too. Morning heel pain is usually plantar fasciitis, which settles with stretching.
