Navicular bone of left foot
Os naviculare sinistrum · Levá kost loďkovitá
Skeleton
Looks like
A boat-shaped bone on the inner midfoot between the talus and the three cuneiforms; felt as a bump in front of the inner ankle.
What it does
Keystone of the inner arch; the tibialis posterior tendon anchors on it.
Keeping it well
Stress fractures in runners and jumpers are easily missed; vague midfoot pain on activity needs an MRI or CT. An extra bone beside it can be painful.
