Inferior branch of oculomotor nerve
Ramus inferior nervi oculomotorii · Dolní větev okohybného nervu
Nervous system
Looks like
The larger lower branch of the third cranial nerve inside the eye socket.
What it does
Moves the eye inward, down and up-and-out; also carries the fibres that shrink the pupil.
Keeping it well
Damage causes double vision and a widened pupil. A sudden painful third-nerve palsy with a big pupil can mean an aneurysm — emergency.
