Lateral head of flexor hallucis brevis
Caput laterale musculi flexoris hallucis brevis · Zevní hlava krátkého ohýbače palce nohy
Muscles
Looks like
The outer part of the short big-toe flexor in the forefoot sole, with a small sesamoid bone in its tendon.
What it does
Bends the big toe at its base joint and bears weight through its sesamoid on push-off.
Keeping it well
The sesamoid under it can become inflamed or break with running or jumping, causing pain under the ball of the foot.
