Quadratus femoris

Looks like

A flat four-sided muscle from the sitting bone to the back of the top of the thigh bone.

What it does

Turns the thigh outward and steadies the hip.

Keeping it well

Can be pinched between bones in some hips (ischiofemoral impingement), causing deep buttock pain.
