Fallopian tubes
Tubae uterinae · Vejcovody
Reproductive system · female only
Looks like
A 10 cm tube from each horn of the womb, opening in a fringe of fingers over the ovary.
What it does
Catches the egg, is where fertilisation happens, and wafts the embryo to the womb.
Keeping it well
Treat pelvic infection early and use condoms; scarred tubes cause infertility and ectopic pregnancy.
