Anatom3DVaginal fornices
Fornix vaginae · Poševní klenby
Reproductive system · female only
Looks like
A circular gutter where the vaginal wall runs up around the part of the cervix that hangs into it — deepest behind.
What it does
Lets the cervix sit inside the vagina, and gives sperm a pool to wait in.
Keeping it well
Nothing routine; the deep back corner is where a doctor reaches the pouch of Douglas, and where a tear is looked for after a severe injury.
