Appendix
Appendix vermiformis · Červovitý přívěsek
Lymphatic & immune
Looks like
A narrow worm-shaped tube, usually 5–10 cm long, hanging from the caecum in the lower right belly.
What it does
Holds lymphoid tissue and a reserve of gut bacteria; we live normally without it.
Keeping it well
Appendicitis: pain starting round the navel and moving to the lower right, with fever and loss of appetite, needs same-day assessment.
