Musculus abductor pollicis longus · Dlouhý odtahovač palce
Muscles
Looks like
A deep muscle on the back of the forearm, from the ulna and radius to the base of the thumb's hand bone.
What it does
Moves the thumb away from the palm and tilts the wrist toward the thumb.
Keeping it well
Its tendon, with extensor pollicis brevis, becomes painful at the wrist in de Quervain's disease, common in new parents; splinting helps.
