Fibularis longus
Musculus fibularis (peroneus) longus · Dlouhý lýtkový sval
Muscles
Looks like
A long muscle on the outer side of the lower leg; its tendon runs behind the outer ankle bone and across the sole.
What it does
Turns the sole outward, points the foot down and braces the foot's arches; helps stop ankle sprains.
Keeping it well
Its tendon can tear or slip over the ankle bone after a sprain; pain behind the outer ankle that persists needs a check.
