Left fibula
Fibula sinistra · Levá kost lýtková
Skeleton
Looks like
The thin outer bone of the lower leg, from below the knee to the outer ankle knob.
What it does
Carries little weight but forms the outer ankle and anchors muscles and ligaments.
Keeping it well
Commonly broken at the ankle in twists. The peroneal nerve winds round its neck, so injury there can cause foot drop.
