Anatom3DOccipital part of head
Regio occipitalis capitis · Týlní část hlavy
Skeleton
Looks like
The back of the head, over the occipital bone, from the crown down to the base of the skull.
What it does
Protects the back of the brain, including the vision centres, and anchors the neck muscles.
Keeping it well
A fall onto the back of the head can injure the brain; vision problems or drowsiness afterwards need emergency care.
