Skeleton
Looks like
The braincase: the rounded vault and base of the skull made of the frontal, parietal, occipital, temporal, sphenoid and ethmoid bones.
What it does
Encloses and protects the brain and gives passage to the nerves and vessels leaving it.
Keeping it well
Skull fractures matter mainly for the bleeding and brain injury beneath. In babies, early fusion of its sutures (craniosynostosis) misshapes the head.
