A branch of the popliteal artery that runs round the inner side of the upper tibia, below the knee joint.
What it does
Supplies the inner knee and joins the network of arteries around the kneecap.
Keeping it well
Can be the source of bleeding after knee replacement; radiologists can block it (embolisation) if needed.
