Musculus longus capitis · Dlouhý sval hlavy
Muscles
Looks like
A thick strap muscle on the front of the upper neck bones, running up from the neck vertebrae to the base of the skull.
What it does
Bends the head forward and slightly turns it.
Keeping it well
Calcium deposits in its tendon can cause sudden severe neck pain and painful swallowing; a scan distinguishes it from infection.
