Anatom3DScalenus medius
Musculus scalenus medius · Střední kýčovitý sval
Muscles
Looks like
The largest scalene muscle, running from most neck vertebrae down to the top of the first rib, behind the scalenus anterior.
What it does
Lifts the first rib during hard breathing and bends the neck sideways.
Keeping it well
The arm's nerve roots pass in front of it; neck pain spreading down the arm with numbness or weakness needs assessment.
