Splenius cervicis

Looks like

A strap muscle below the splenius capitis, running from the upper chest spines to the side of the upper neck vertebrae.

What it does

Bends the neck backward and turns it to the same side.

Keeping it well

Strained in whiplash and poor posture; stays best with regular movement rather than rest.
