Tibialis posterior
Musculus tibialis posterior · Zadní holenní sval
Muscles
Looks like
The deepest calf muscle, between the two leg bones; its tendon runs behind the inner ankle bone to the sole.
What it does
Holds up the inner arch of the foot and turns the sole inward.
Keeping it well
Its tendon can wear out in middle age, causing a painful, flattening foot; early physiotherapy and inserts help.
