A light, box-like bone between the eye sockets, riddled with small air cells, with a sieve-like plate on top.
What it does
Separates the nose from the brain; smell nerves pass through its sieve plate.
Keeping it well
Its sieve plate breaks in facial trauma; loss of smell or clear salty fluid from the nose after injury needs checking for a brain-fluid leak.
