Looks like
Not one organ: marrow, thymus, spleen, nodes and cells patrolling everywhere.
What it does
Tells self from foreign, kills invaders, and remembers them for next time.
Keeping it well
Sleep, food and movement do the daily work. Vaccines differ enormously: measles and tetanus prevent a dangerous disease with very rare serious harm; in healthy adults a yearly flu shot prevents about 1–2 confirmed cases per 100 each season, fewer when the strains match poorly; flu is most dangerous for the old, the pregnant and the chronically ill.
