Radial styloid process
Processus styloideus radii · Bodcovitý výběžek vřetenní kosti
Skeleton
Looks like
The pointed lower tip of the radius on the thumb side of the wrist, felt at the base of the 'anatomical snuffbox'.
What it does
Anchors the brachioradialis and the wrist's side ligament; two thumb tendons slide over it in a tunnel.
Keeping it well
Pain here with thumb use is often de Quervain's tendinitis. After a fall on the hand, pain just beyond it may be a broken scaphoid — worth an X-ray.
