Skeleton
Looks like
A dome-shaped bone at the top of the foot, sitting in the socket formed by the tibia and fibula.
What it does
Passes the body's weight from the leg into the foot and lets the ankle rock up and down.
Keeping it well
No muscle attaches to it and its blood supply is poor, so fractures can fail to heal. Deep ankle pain after a sprain that does not settle may be a cartilage injury here.
