A flat band on the outer front of the ankle, from the tip of the outer ankle bone to the talus.
What it does
Stops the foot rolling inward and sliding forward, especially with the toes pointed.
Keeping it well
The most often sprained ligament in the body. Inability to take four steps or bone tenderness needs an X-ray (Ottawa rules).
