Anterior tibiofibular ligament
Ligamentum tibiofibulare anterius · Přední holenně-lýtkový vaz
Joints & cartilage
Looks like
A band on the front of the lower leg, just above the ankle, joining the lower tibia and fibula.
What it does
Holds the two leg bones together so the ankle socket stays tight.
Keeping it well
Injured in 'high ankle sprain' when the foot twists outward; recovery takes longer than a normal sprain.
