A cord-like band from the tip of the outer ankle bone down and back to the heel bone.
What it does
Stops the heel rolling inward; spans both the ankle and the subtalar joint.
Keeping it well
Torn in more severe ankle sprains after the anterior talofibular ligament. Repeated giving way needs rehabilitation, sometimes surgery.
