Lymph nodes in the fat in the middle of the armpit, the ones a doctor can often feel on examination.

What it does

Collect lymph from the other armpit node groups and pass it up to the apical nodes.

Keeping it well

Swell with arm or hand infections and with breast cancer or lymphoma; a hard, fixed lump needs a doctor.
