A branch of the sciatic nerve that winds around the neck of the fibula just below the outer knee, right under the skin.
What it does
Divides into deep and superficial fibular nerves that lift the foot and feel the outer shin and foot top.

Easily pressed by crossed legs, casts or weight loss: foot drop with a numb foot top. See a doctor if it lasts.
