A pencil-like cord on the outer side of the knee, from the outer knob of the femur to the head of the fibula.
What it does
Stops the knee bending outward (bow-leg direction).
Keeping it well
Torn in blows to the inner knee, often with other outer-corner injuries that need early surgical assessment.
