Genitofemoral nerve
Nervus genitofemoralis · Genitofemorální nerv
Nervous system
Looks like
A nerve from the first two lumbar nerves that pierces the front of the psoas muscle and runs down on it toward the groin.
What it does
Splits into a genital branch for the scrotum or labia and a femoral branch for skin below the groin crease.
Keeping it well
Can be injured in hernia repair or appendix surgery, causing burning groin pain; nerve blocks help diagnose it.
