Medial meniscus
Meniscus medialis · Vnitřní menisk
Joints & cartilage
Looks like
A C-shaped pad of fibrocartilage on the inner half of the tibial top, fixed to the capsule and inner ligament.
What it does
Spreads load across the knee and protects the cartilage; because it is fixed it moves less.
Keeping it well
The most often torn meniscus. Degenerative tears are common after 40; exercise therapy often helps as much as keyhole surgery.
