Medial subtendinous bursa of gastrocnemius muscle
Bursa subtendinea medialis musculi gastrocnemii · Vnitřní podšlachová burza lýtkového svalu
Joints & cartilage
Looks like
A sac between the inner head of the calf muscle and the back of the knee, often connecting with the joint and the semimembranosus bursa.
What it does
Reduces friction behind the knee.
Keeping it well
Swells into a Baker's cyst when the knee makes extra fluid. A burst cyst mimics a blood clot; calf swelling needs a scan.
