The bundle of nerve fibres entering the back side of the spinal cord at each level, with a ganglion swelling on it.
What it does
Brings sensation from the skin, muscles and organs into the cord.
Keeping it well
Pressure from a disc gives pain and numbness in a strip of skin (dermatome). Shingles starts in its ganglion.
