Semimembranosus bursa
Bursa musculi semimembranosi · Burza poloblanitého svalu
Joints & cartilage
Looks like
A sac between the semimembranosus tendon and the inner head of the calf muscle and the tibia, behind the inner knee.
What it does
Lets the tendon glide at the back of the knee.
Keeping it well
Part of the Baker's cyst in many people; a lump behind the knee is usually harmless but a painful swollen calf needs checking.
