A nerve from L4–S1 leaving the pelvis above the piriformis with the superior gluteal vessels.
What it does
Moves gluteus medius, minimus and tensor fasciae latae, which keep the pelvis level when you stand on one leg.
Keeping it well
Injury (hip surgery, injections) gives a waddling limp with the hip dropping on the other side (Trendelenburg sign).
