A large pouch above the kneecap, under the quadriceps tendon, almost always part of the knee joint cavity.
What it does
Gives the quadriceps tendon room to glide and lets the knee bend fully.
Keeping it well
Fills with fluid in knee effusion. Doctors often aspirate or inject the knee here.
