The large vein of the armpit, lying on the inner side of the axillary artery from the teres major to the first rib.
What it does
Collects all the blood from the arm and passes it on as the subclavian vein toward the heart.
Keeping it well
A clot here (e.g. after heavy overhead effort) causes a swollen, bluish, aching arm and needs urgent care.
